txkWfClone.sh Poor performance in R12

Hi, everybody should come across, while during a clone, you might have experienced very poor performance while running txkWfClone.sh profile.

Sometimes, it may end up in error

txkWfClone.sh                  INSTE8_APPLY     -1

it is time out message and could not complete the cloning.

It Runs txkWfClone.sql against apps user in the database.

During cloning, execution of txkWfClone  is required only for the first autoconfig run. For subsequent Autoconfig  runs,  it is not required

To resolve this,

Take the backup of the files described.

1). Move the phase of the script txkWfClone.sh to INSTALL_SETUP phase in $FND_TOP/admin/driver/fndtmpl.drv:

 ###### Required for OWF ######
        fnd admin/template txkWfClone.sql INSTE8 /admin/install/ txkWfClone.sql 600

to

       fnd admin/template txkWfClone.sh    INSTALL /admin/install/ txkWfClone.sh 600

Changing the autoconfig phase of this script from  INST8_SETUP to INSTALL_SETUP will prevent it from unwanted execution, resulting in better performance for future autoconfig runs.

The role of txkWfCLone.sh is to create workflow related references in  db tier of target system in the cloning process.

During txkWfClone.sh's execution, the comparison between source system and target system URLs is done.  Essentially, in a scenario where we are creating an additional middle tier from an existing  middle tier/(s) having one common database tier, it will result in  redundant operation of changing/creating workflow references for target  middle tier.

For comparison, txkWfClone constructs an url for target system using  the context variables as follows:

'%s_webentryurlprotocol%'||'://'||'%s_webhost%'||'.'||'%s_domainname%'||':'||'
%s_active_webport%'||'/pls/'||'%s_dbSid%'

Cheers!!!

Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 Certified on Solaris 11

Oracle Solaris 11 was announced last week, and I'm pleased to also announce that Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 is now certified on Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit). This new operating system release represents a culmination of years of hard work by our Solaris engineering group. It has a number of new and advanced features including simplified deployment and lifecycle management tools, built-in certified virtualization technologies, support on the latest generation SPARC chips, and more.

New installations of the E-Business Suite R12 on this platform will require version 12.1.1 or higher and the latest Rapid Install startCD version 12.1.1.13. For existing 12.1 installations, we have also certified an "in place" OS upgrade or the use of cloning to a target Solaris 11 system. There are also specific requirements to upgrade technology components such as the Oracle Database and Fusion Middleware. These requirements are noted in the links below.

FNDCPUCF: error while loading shared libraries: requires glibc 2.5 or later dynamic linker

This is about the error during application tier cloning.

The message i found was from adconfig.log,

ERRORCODE = 127 ERRORCODE_END
.end std out.
FNDCPUCF: error while loading shared libraries: requires glibc 2.5 or later dynamic linker
FNDCPUCF: error while loading shared libraries: requires glibc 2.5 or later dynamic linker

Cause:
Since the source system was Oracle Linux 5 update 5 and the destination is Oracle Linux 4 update 8, the executables linked using Linux 5 update 5 libraries are not compatible with the destination system.

Fix:
1. Source the application environment on each application tier.
2. using adadmin, Relink all the executables.
3. Run autoconfig on application tier. (It should complete successfully).
4. Restart the services.

Cheers!!!

Sun JRE1.6.0 update 27 has been certified for E Biz

Some questions following our last JRE certification indicated that there's still lingering confusion about which JRE releases are safe to use with E-Business Suite environments. To recap: JRE releases 1.6.0_18 through 1.6.0_22 had issues with mismanaging session cookies that affected some users in some circumstances.

The fix for those issues was first included in JRE 1.6.0_23. These fixes will carry forward and continue to be fixed in all future JRE releases. In other words, if you wish to avoid the mismanaged session cookie issue, you should apply any release after JRE 1.6.0_22: for example, JRE 1.6.0_23, 1.6.0_24, 1.6.0_25, and 1.6.0_26.

As of today, you can also apply Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0_27 (a.k.a. JRE 6u27-b07). JRE 1.6.0_27 is certified with E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12.

All JRE releases are certified with EBS upon release

Our standard policy is that all E-Business Suite customers can apply all JRE updates to end-user desktops from JRE 1.6.0_03 and higher. We test all new JRE releases in parallel with the JRE development process, so all JRE releases are considered certified with the E-Business Suite on the same day that they're released by our Java team.

You do not need to wait for a certification announcement before applying new JRE releases to your EBS users' desktops. If you wish, your desktop administrators can enable the Java "Automatic updates" option on your end-users' desktops.

What's new in Java 1.6.0_27?

See the 1.6.0_27 Update Release Notes for details about what has changed in this release. This release is available for download from the usual Sun channels and through the 'Java Automatic Update' mechanism.

JRE 1.6.0_27 provides the following fixes and functionality change that may affect Oracle E-Business Suite customers:

  • The browser window opening behind the Forms window issue is now fixed for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users running IE.
  • Selecting the "Close Window" Link through Internet Explorer will no longer display a modal window with the prompt, "The webpage you are viewing is trying to close the tab, Do you want to close this tab?".
  • Due to JRE6u27 now adhering more strictly to the IE browser settings, "File Export" and certain "Form Attachments" will now fail through IE without the correct browser setting for IE6, IE7 & IE8 users.

This JRE release has been certified with both Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12. We recommend this release for all E-Business Suite users.
