EBS Technology Codelevel Checker (ETCC)

The E-Business Suite Technology Codelevel Checker (ETCC) tool helps you identify application or database tier overlay patches that need to be applied to your Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 system. ETCC maps any missing overlay patches to the default corresponding Database Patch Set Update (PSU) patches, and displays them in a patch recommendation summary.
The ETCC tool was designed to be self-documenting, but you can find an introduction to it in Section 3 of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2: Consolidated List of Patches and Technology Bug Fixes (MOS Note 1594274.1).
What’s New
ETCC has been updated to include bug fixes and patching combinations for the following recommended versions of the following updates:
  • Oracle Database Proactive BP 12.1.0.2.190115
  • Oracle Database PSU 12.1.0.2.190115
  • Oracle JavaVM Component Database PSU 12.1.0.2.190115
  • Oracle Database Patch for Exadata BP 11.2.0.4.190115
  • Oracle Database PSU 11.2.0.4.190115
  • Oracle JavaVM Component Database PSU 11.2.0.4.190115
  • Microsoft Windows Database PSU 11.2.0.4.190115
  • Oracle JavaVM Component 2.1.0.2.180417 on Windows
  • Microsoft Windows Database BP 11.2.0.4.180417
  • Oracle JavaVM Component 11.2.0.4.180417 on Windows
Obtaining ETCC
We recommend always using the latest version of ETCC, as new bugfixes will not be checked by older versions of the utility. The latest version of the ETCC tool can always be downloaded via Patch 17537119 from My Oracle Support.

Critical Patch Update for E Business Suite - July 2014 is released

From

https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/critical_patch_update_for_july4

  1. Make a list of all the Oracle E-Business Suite homes on your system, together with their associated Oracle products and full versions.
  2. Identify the CPU patches needed for each Oracle product. Depending on your configuration, you may need to apply multiple Oracle Database and Oracle Fusion Middleware patches.
  3. Set the environment to point to the relevant Oracle home or product before applying a patch.
  4. Shut down all processes running from an Oracle home before patching the products there.
  5. Apply patches to one Oracle product at a time, then move on to the next Oracle product.
  6. Patch the database tier before the application (middle) tier. This is to ensure the database post-installation scripts have been run before application tier services are restarted.
  7. Patch your system in the following order:
    1. Any separate or remote Oracle Fusion Middleware or Oracle HTTP Server Database home, including a separate Metadata Repository home.
    2. Oracle E-Business Suite Database home.
    3. Oracle Identity Management and infrastructure homes.
    4. Oracle Fusion Middleware application tier home.
    5. Oracle E-Business Suite applications.
  8. Ensure that each product is patched completely before continuing to the next.

Three Essential Reference Tools for E-Business Suite Upgrades

Today Steven Chan has posted a very useful tools for Comparison tools for E Business Suite.

Mostly covered with version 12.1.x and 12.2.x

For further reading:

Three Essential Reference Tools for E-Business Suite Upgrades

https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/ebs_comparison_tools

Regular readers of this blog know that we have three reference tools that are essential for every E-Business Suite upgrade:
  1. File Comparison Report (Note 1446430.1)
  2. Data Model Comparison Report (Note 1290886.1)
  3. Seed Data Comparison Report (Note 1327399.1)
These tools allow you to generate a report of the differences between one EBS release and another for specific EBS products.
For example, you could use the Data Model Comparison to get a list of EBS 11.5.10.2 database objects that were updated in EBS 12.1.3 for Bill of Materials (BOM):
Screenshot of data model comparison report tool
What's New?
These tools now cover EBS 12.2.2 and 12.2.3.
The latest File Comparison Report now allows you to compare the following release combinations:
  • EBS 12.1.3 with 11.5.10.2
  • EBS 12.2.2 with 11.5.10.2, 12.0.6, 12.1.3
  • EBS 12.2.3 with 11.5.10.2, 12.0.6
The latest Data Model Comparison Report now allows you to compare the following release combinations:
  • EBS 12.1.3 with 11.5.9, 11.5.10.2, 12.0.4, 12.0.6, 12.1.1, 12.1.2
  • EBS 12.2.2 with 11.5.10.2, 12.0.6, 12.1.3
  • EBS 12.2.3 with 11.5.10.2, 12.0.6, 12.1.3, 12.2.2
The latest Seed Data Comparison Report now allows you to compare the following release combinations:
  • EBS 12.1.3 with 11.5.10.2, 12.0.6, 12.1.3
  • EBS 12.2.2 with 11.5.10.2, 12.0.6, 12.1.3
  • EBS 12.2.3 with 11.5.10.2, 12.0.6, 12.1.3, 12.2.2

Oracle E Business Suite 12.2 is available

Great news.. that Oracle Has released its long expected Oracle EBS 12.2 has been released today. As per Steven Chan's blog.

It has been released for Linux 64 Bit.

The features will be:
Hundreds of new features
Includes significant enhancements across the integrated suite of business applications spanning enterprise resource planning, human capital management, and supply chain management.  You can find the complete list here:

Online Patching

Apply EBS patches while users are still entering transactions and using the E-Business Suite.  Online Patching uses the Oracle Database's Edition-Based Redefinition feature and other new technologies to allow the E-Business Suite to be updated while the system is still running. You can learn more about Online Patching via our official documentation and this technical webcast.
WebLogic Server
Uses Oracle WebLogic Server, which replaces the Oracle Containers for Java (OC4J) application server used in EBS 12.0 and 12.1.  You can learn more about how this improves the system administration experience via our official documentation and this technical webcast.
Streamlined installation
  • Option for installing EBS 12.2 on to existing database servers.
  • Capability of installation into existing Real Application Clusters environments.
  • Database deployment on Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and other file systems.

Upgrade Options?

Yes..

Upgrading to EBS 12.2
Is there a direct upgrade path from EBS 11i to 12.2?
Yes, there is a direct upgrade path from EBS 11.5.10.2 to EBS 12.2.  EBS 11.5.10.2 customers do not have to install an intermediary EBS 12 release (such as 12.1.3) before upgrading to EBS 12.2.  EBS 11.5.10.2 customers must have applied the minimum baseline patch requirements for Extended Support as described in Patch Requirements for Extended Support of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10 (Document 883202.1). Customers on earlier EBS 11i releases (such as 11.5.7) need to be at the 11.5.10.2 level plus the minimum baseline patch requirements for Extended Support before they can upgrade to EBS 12.2.
Is there a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.0 to 12.2?
Yes, there is a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.0.4 and 12.0.6 to EBS 12.2.  EBS 12.0.4 or 12.0.6 customers do not have to install an intermediary EBS 12 release (such as 12.1.3) before upgrading to EBS 12.2.  Customers on earlier EBS 12.0 releases (such as 12.0.3) will need to be at the 12.0.4 or 12.0.6 level before they can upgrade to EBS 12.2.
Is there a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.1 to 12.2?
Yes, there is a direct upgrade path from EBS 12.1.1, 12.1.2, and 12.1.3 to EBS 12.2.
