Oracle 12.1 is certified on Sun Sparc 11 (64 Bit)

This is indeed a great news, that Oracle E Business Suite 12.1 is certified on Sun Sparc 11 on 15th of Nov according to the Oracle Blog.

Oracle declared, that this OS is the first cloud OS.

Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 Certified on Solaris 11

Oracle Solaris 11 was announced last week, and I'm pleased to also announce that Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 is now certified on Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit). This new operating system release represents a culmination of years of hard work by our Solaris engineering group. It has a number of new and advanced features including simplified deployment and lifecycle management tools, built-in certified virtualization technologies, support on the latest generation SPARC chips, and more.

New installations of the E-Business Suite R12 on this platform will require version 12.1.1 or higher and the latest Rapid Install startCD version 12.1.1.13. For existing 12.1 installations, we have also certified an "in place" OS upgrade or the use of cloning to a target Solaris 11 system. There are also specific requirements to upgrade technology components such as the Oracle Database and Fusion Middleware. These requirements are noted in the links below.

New Rapid Install StartCD (12.1.1.13) for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 Now Available

A new Rapid Install startCD (Patch 11072566) for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1 is now available for download in My Oracle Support.

The startCD updates are distributed to customers via My Oracle Support Patch which can be uncompressed on top of any previous 12.1 startCD under the main staging area. This patch replaces any previous startCDs.


What's New in This Update?

This new startCD version 12.1.1.13 includes important fixes for Platform specific issues such as support for AIX 7.1, global inventory registration problems in AIX 6.1 Power 7 Systems and a reoccurring fix for a corrupted datafile included in the 12.1.1 media for Linux 64:

  • 12725526 : RAPID INSTALL SUPPORT FOR AIX 7.1
  • 10312267 : RAPID WIZARD DOES NOT REGISTER THE 11G ORACLE HOME IN ORAINVENTORY (AIX 6.1 POWER7)
  • 11818745 : FIX FOR BUG 8625887 NOT IN STARTCD 12.1.1.11 (LINUX-64 BIT)

This release also contains fixes for the following issues:

  • 9324196 : NEW OCM DOESN'T VALIDATE WHEN USERNAME IS BLANK AND PASSWORD IS FILLED.
  • 9238157 : INCORRECT USER CAUSE ERROR STACK PRINT ON THE SERVER SCREEN
  • 6857060 : RAPIDWIZ FAILS WITH DATABASE INSTALL DRIVER MISSING
  • 5842386 : RAPIDWIZ FAILS TO VALIDATE UNIX USERS WHEN USING CONF FILE
